Puffy Mattress Review – Puffy Bed-in-a-Box Mattress
We all could agree on one thing that sleep is the best meditation ever. Working all day starting from preparing breakfast, getting kids ready to school, going to office & doing household chores till night, we all deserve the beautiful 7-8 hours of full sleep at night. To put that in better words, the common dream that we all have is lying on bed, hugging a pillow and falling asleep peacefully every night. It’s so true that sleep is the golden chain that ties our body and health together. Lack of sleep could completely knock you down as it plays a critical role in thinking & learning. Also, it ages your skin, makes you forgetful and sleep deprivation may lead to cardiovascular disease.
Now, it’s pretty much clear that if we sleep better then we can certainly live better. There are few things we need to consider for better sleeping – sticking to bed time schedule, watching what we eat, reducing the use of electronic devices, exercising & improvising our sleeping environment which include the light exposure, noise, room temperature and choosing the right mattress. We all have different level of comfort zone when it comes to mattress firmness, foam toppers and pillows. Sometimes, we woke up with neck or back pain or feeling too warm after our sleep, it’s all because of not choosing the right mattress. If you are looking for the right mattress to pursue your sweet dreams, we would like to introduce “Puffy Mattress“.

Joyal Beauty – Super Brightening Vitamin C Eye Gel
Joyal Beauty – Super Brightening Vitamin C Eye Gel – Most of us don’t live in the world where we can get solid 8 hours of sound and deep sleep. This results in wrinkles, puffiness, crow’s feet and dark circles around the eyes. Don’t you worry, you are not alone in this. If you are looking for an organic eye cream product to take care of your eyes in a natural way then, there are ‘N’ number of options available. We would like to suggest one such product which I recently tried “Joyal Beauty – Super Brightening Vitamin C Eye Gel“.

Kadala Curry – Peanut Gravy – Groundnut Curry Indian
Kadala Curry / Verkadalai curry is an easy side dish in which the dry groudnuts are pressure cooked to soft and mixed in the onion tomato spicy gravy base, flavored with mint and cilantro. The tanginess of lemon really brings out the taste of this spicy gravy. This is usually served as a side for chapathi or roti varieties. And, it would go well for dosa, idly or pooris.
Kadala Curry – Peanut Gravy Recipe from Homemaking Delight
Chapathi is always there a couple of times on our weekly dinner menu and our channa masala gravy usually tags with it. I have been trying to increase my protein intake for a few days now. I was browsing for ingredients that has high-protein content and I was surprised to know that the protein content in peanuts (46%) are a bit higher than chickpeas (38%). That’s how I ended up making this Kadala curry as a sidedish for chapathi instead of our usual channa masala. 😀
Usually, in kerala, kadala curry is cooked from black chick peas. In Tamil Nadu, we call most pulses as “kadala” or “kadalai“. Channa or chick peas are called kondakadalai or mookadalai and peanuts/groundnuts are called verkadalai or nilakadalai. If you are here looking for chick pea recipes, please check out our Channa puli kolambu and south Indian style channa masala gravy.
If you are a peanut lover, you would totally dig this kadala curry recipe. 🙂 The cooked salted peanuts were tasty just as they were and I ended up eating half of those as such (which I had planned to save for making my yummy peanut salad). Though, it’s just a onion-tomato based gravy, the flavored peanuts along with the tanginess of lemon would make the gravy extra-delicious. If you are so bored of making your usual gravies for your dinner, here is a healthy alternative recipe to meet your expectation!!! 🙂

Baked Okra Recipe – Bhindi Fry in Oven Recipe
Baked Okra Recipe is a non-sticky baked version of our bhindi fry in which the finely chopped & seasoned lady’s fingers are baked in the oven after which they are sauteed with onions. Finally, they are garnished with freshly grated coconut. Easy, risk-free, non-sticky & baked okra version for the okra lovers out there. 😀
Baked Okra Recipe – Fried bhindi from Homemaking Delight
As much as I loved to eat bhindi fry aka okra fry, cooking “bhindi fry” was not my favorite during my initial cooking days. It was mainly because of its sticky nature and long minutes of sauteing okra in kadai with constant stirring to get the perfect okra fries. During that phase, I had made a few funny dishes in the name of bhindi fry. 😀 Hope, people who had tasted that, had quite forgotten and moved on now. 😐 Here’s the solution to the biggest okra problem ever – how to cook okras fast, tasty and non-sticky. 🙂
Pan-fried okras are good to make in small quantities. But, when you are planning to prepare in bulk for any party or get-together, baked okra is a better option that saves a lot of time. You don’t need to worry about adding curd or rice flour for making non-sticky vendaikkai fries. Just, layer the bhindi in single layer and bake. It won’t be sticky at all, when it comes out of the oven fully cooked. You can have it as such with some freshly added coconut or saute them with onions & curry powder for more flavor. So, don’t have any second thoughts on buying lady’s finger from the market fretting on its stickiness. Remember, that our baked okra recipe is there to save you. 🙂

Mashed Red Pumpkin curry recipe – Parangikkai masala sabzi
Red Pumzpkin Curry recipe – Parangikkai masala sabzi – Mashed red pumpkin cooked with onions & chosen Indian spices – A very simple & spicy side dish cooked with mashed red pumpkin and a few chosen spices to go with rather plain/mild dishes like mor kolambu or pulao or even with Chapathi or roti varieties.
I am a picky eater. I eat very less (This doesn’t include cakes, chocolates and snacks especially mullu bonda 😀 ), but I am so choosy with my food as well as my cooking. When it comes to cooking vegetables, I have a big constraint list based on the veggies. For poriyal or side dish types, veggies like carrot, beetroot, radish, cabbage must be grated. Beans, long beans, broad beans must be chopped very thinly. Veggies like bitter gourd, turkey berry, banana flower must be cooked with dhal as “paruppusili“. For masala poriyal or karaporial, there should be onions and for plain veggie curries, there should be grated coconut finishing. 😀

Vegetarian Spaghetti – Spaghetti with Pasta Sauce Recipe
Vegetarian Spaghetti is a staple Italian food in which the cooked angel hair pasta is sauteed with onion & garlic, tossed with vegetables, pasta sauce, soy sauce & a tint of balsamic vinegar, seasoned with salt & pepper and topped with Mozzarella & parmesan cheese.
Vegetarian Spaghetti – Spaghetti with Pasta Sauce Recipe from Homemaking Delight
I hate Mondays and the heavy downpour here just made the last Monday the worst of all. It usually takes me at least until Tuesday to get back to weekday mode. 😀 Same with my tummy. It’s still expecting something exotic that we get in restaurants over weekends. If there’s something that could solve my problem (lazy but want a special home-made meal), that would be vegetarian spaghetti. 😀 I cooked that and I totally loved it! Though the recipe works good with all varieties of spaghetti, I highly recommend using “angel hair” which has a unique taste. You have multiple choices to choose with the sauce. The seasoned pasta with the tomato sauce, soy sauce with crunchy veggies and a tinge of balsamic vinegar would make the pasta quite tasty. Adding roasted veggies instead of cooked one would give nice texture & taste in every spoon. Enjoy a hearty meal with your special home-cooked vegetarian spaghetti!!! Continue reading

Homemade Gift Basket – DiY – Fruit Gift Basket – Hand-made gifts
Homemade gift basket / DiY Fruit Gift basket is an easy handmade gift in which the hand picked fruits are arranged in a decorated basket and delivered to the recipient at his/her home or workplace for special occasions such as Mother’s day, Valentines day, Christmas & other holidays or as a ‘Thank you‘ gift. 🙂
We all exchange gifts on special occasions & holidays as a token of love. Though, store-bought gifts make our loved ones happy, hand-made gifts are the ones that make them feel special & stay in the heart. It just shows the time & affection they invested in making the gift. I got an opportunity to make a homemade gift basket, when we were invited by our relatives. We were not sure about our visit until the last moment, so I had not planned earlier for a gift and also I didn’t have enough time to buy something special for them. My nephew is a big fan of fruits. So, I thought of making this special & healthy homemade gift basket. There were a few small imperfections here & there (My first time, please!), but together it looked beautiful. 🙂
