How are you doing?? Been a really long time.. I had really missed this blog very badly 🙁 We were stuck with a couple of issues and now we are back with a bang 🙂 Before we took the break, there were requests to post chutney varieties that does not call for coconut.. Here comes another coconut-less chutney – Kothamalli Chutney – Coriander chutney from Home-Making-Delight 🙂

This version of Kothamalli chutney is very easy to prepare as this does not involve the sauteing or chopping part 🙂 Normally we prepare this kothamalli (Cilantro) chutney with coconut. But, as many people have asked for coconut-less chutney recipes, we are posting this version for now.

Kothamalli Chutney – Coriander Chutney – No-Coconut Version Recipe

Coriander leaves Chutney / Cilantro Chutney from Home Making Delight

Ingredients:

Onion  – 1 big (or 2 small)

Tomato – 1

Garlic pods  – 4

Kothamalli (Cilantro/Coriander leaves) – Half a bunch

Salt – As needed

Water – As needed

Green chillies – 1 or 2 ( Depending upon how hot you would like to have the chutney)

For the Tempering:

Oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Curry leaves – a few (Optional)

Urad dhal – 1 tsp (Optional)

Preparation Method:

1) Cut the onions and tomatoes roughly. Peel off the garlic pods. Slit the green chillies lengthwise.

2) Wash and clean the cilantro.

3) Put all the ingredients together along with the needed salt in the mixer grinder (mixie) and grind. Add little water and give it an another go.

4) Heat oil and temper the ingredients listed under tempering and add it to the ground kothamalli chutney.

5) Enjoy your Idly/Dosa/Upma/Adai with kothamalli chutney topped with gingelly oil 🙂

Tit-Bits:

1) The green chillies are cut lengthwise to enable smooth grinding.

2) Add water little by little while grinding.
