Jingle bells, Jingle bells, Jingle all the way!!!! 🙂 🙂 Festive season has started and it’s all Christmas-yyy here 🙂  Here comes an easy custard recipe – “Creamy Custard cup” to pep up the festive mood and surprise your guests.

Custard cups – An exotic, simple dessert which is a combination of crispy crust, custard ice cream and creamy chocolate (Mouth-watering, uhh??). This recipe is quite flexible as you can choose your own toppings. So, you can use whatever you have handy (Bit Relieved now??) and the cups can be prepared in advance too, so you don’t have to take up any pressure on the special day. You can please everybody’s palate by serving the toppings of his/her preference 😉

Custard Cups Recipe

Ingredients:

Butter – 2 tsp (room temperature)

Sugar – 1 tbsp

Maida or All purpose flour – 3/4 cup

Baking powder – 1/8 tsp or a pinch

Custard powder – 1 tbsp

Milk – 1 tbsp

Water – 3 tbsp

For Filling:

Milk – 2 cups

Sugar – 3 tbsp

Custard powder – 2 tbsp

Vanilla extract – 1 tsp

Chopped nuts of your choice – 6 tbsp or chopped mixed fruits – 3/4 cup

Preparation:

Sieve baking powder and maida together and keep it ready. Cream butter and sugar in a bowl until it turns fluffy.image

Add the custard powder and milk to the sieved flour. Mix gently with water to form dough and divide it into 8 equal portions.

Roll each ball into a round shape (approximately 4 inches) touching little more flour, if required. Prick it with fork at even distance and make the impression of strips by pressing the fork at the edges (Refer picture below).

Place them on the muffin pan and just pull the edges a bit inside to make a flower shape as shown below.

Bake it in the oven at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden color and allow it cool.

Mix custard powder in 1/2 cup of milk and keep it aside. Heat the remaining milk with sugar.

When it starts to boil, add custard powder mixer and vanilla extract. Once it gets thickened, switch off the flame and allow it cool down.

Fill the cooled custard in the cups and freeze it, until the custard gets settled (30-60 mins).

Top it with fruits, nuts and/or chocolates before serving. You can have a party of crunchy crust, ice cream & chocolate (I topped with nuts & Kisses).

Tit-Bits:

  1. You can prepare the molds in advance and store it in an airtight container.

  2. Try any ice cream of your choice instead of custard filling in the Custard cups 🙂

  3. You can add chocolate/strawberry syrup too 🙂
