Salsa sauce

Salsa is a tomato-based sauce widely used in Mexican cuisine mostly served as dips for chips, tortillas, tacos, burritos & Quesadillas.

For a period of time, I was so crazy for this store-bought, fully cooked, thick and chunky mild salsa dip for tortillas. When I planned to prepare the Mexican dish Quesadilla for dinner, I thought of my favorite salsa sauce to be a perfect pair for it. It was lip-smacking and my Quesadillas tasted great with it 🙂 I would post the Quesadillas recipe soon for you soon. 🙂

Salsa recipe from Homemakingdelight


Tomato – 2

Onion – 1/2 cup roughly chopped

Garlic – 3 pods

Jalapeno Pepper – 1

Cilantro – 1/4 cup chopped

Jeera or cumin – 1 tsp

Pepper – 1/4 tsp (optional)

Sugar – 1/2 tsp

Vinegar or lemon juice – 1/4 tsp

Salt – as needed

Preparation Method

  1. Roughly chop the onions, tomatoes, Jalapeno & cilantro. If you don’t want it  to be spicy remove the seeds from Jalapeno peppers.IMG_2246

  2. Place all the ingredients in the mixer grinder or food processor. Pulse it for a few times so that it is enough to finely dice the ingredients & not to puree them.IMG_2245

  3. Let it sit for an hour before you serve with chips, tortillas, tacos, burritos & Quesadillas.



You can also make this in hand by finely chopping the ingredients instead of using food processor.
