Beetroot Kheer – Beet Payasam – Beetroot Milkshake
Beetroot Kheer is a quick, healthy dessert made by cooking the ghee-roasted beetroots which are then blended in milk and flavored with cardamom. Beetroot Kheer is so easy to prepare and you won’t need much of sugar because of the natural sweetness of the beets. 🙂
It was just me for lunch today which was also a boring one. So, I promised myself of a really nice treat after my meal. 😀 Beetroots had been sitting in my fridge for quite some time and I wanted to finish that off too. I had very recently tried beetroot burger and I wanted to prepare something new this time which would be equally delicious. [Of course, I did not count the Beet-Lemon juice as any normal/delicious food as that is supposed to be just a weight-loss drink :D]. If you want to make a dish that gets over fast, then better make a dessert out of it :D. So, I tried kheer with beetroot as it’s easy and doesn’t need many ingredients. It’s smooth and serves as a perfect, delicious dessert 🙂 Beetroot Kheer is rich, creamier and it is good for your skin too. 🙂

Beetroot Kheer Recipe – Beet Payasam- Beetroot Milkshake Recipe
Beetroot – 1/2 cup (shredded)
Sugar or Honey – 1 & 1/2 – 2 tblsp
Milk – 1 & 1/2 cup
Cardamom – 1/4 tsp
Ghee – 2 tsp
Nuts – 1 tblsp for garnishing
Roasted Semiya or Javarasi – 1 tblsp (optional)
- Add ghee in a pan and roast the shredded beetroot until a nice aroma arises.
Adjust the milk amount (1 – 1 & 1/2 cup) depending on the consistency you need.
I tried adding the beetroot as cubes but it made my beet kheer thicker that it ought to be. So make sure to shred it.
