Paneer Gravy – Simple Indian Cottage Cheese Gravy

This Simple delicious Paneer Gravy is prepared by cooking Indian cottage cheese in the ground mixture of onion, tomato & coconut along with flavored Indian spices. This gravy goes well with rice, rotis, pooris, parathas, chapathi and naan varieties. We use paneer in a wide variety of dishes from gravies, wraps, patties, burritos, pizza toppings & sweets. And, it would be extra special if we make your paneer at home.:)

Whenever I plan Roti varieties for dinner, the first thing that hit my mind is “Paneer” gravy. The freshly made Indian Cottage Cheese that is mildly roasted with crispy outside with soft crumbled chewy inside cooked in a sauce of flavored spices always make me eat more Rotis. Adding Paneer to any gravy or dish would make it rich and flavored. When you are too lazy to go out for dinner and yet feel like having any special restaurant style paneer dishes, do try this Panner Gravy to bring the restaurant meal to your dinner table. 🙂 😀

Health Benefits of Paneer:

  • Paneer is a good source of protein for vegetarians. It helps in building stronger teeth & bones as it is also rich in calcium.
  • Paneer is a great source of conjugated linoleic acid – a fatty acid which helps people with active lifestyle lose weight by increasing the fat burning process in the body.

This Paneer gravy has a flavor of ground coconut which we normally do for any South Indian Khorma or Kuruma varieties. I have never tried a paneer gravy with coconut before. So, I was initially skeptical while preparing this one but the gravy came out really good. 🙂 I hope you would like it too. Over to Simple Paneer Gravy – Indian Cottage Cheese Gravy recipe from Home-Making Delight with step by step photos…

  1. You can skip step 1 and add fresh paneer to your panneer gravy if you prefer. Roasting or Shallow frying the paneer cubes in butter/ghee would add more taste to the gravy and paneer chunks in it.
  2. I don’t like the chunks of seasoning spices (like cinnamon sticks) in the gravy so I prefer to grind it. If you like, you may add the whole spices along with bay leaf.
  3. To make it vegan add tofu (Soy Paneer – Paneer made from Soy Milk) instead of paneer.
